HDC Fourth Graders Explore Holiday Design and History at Hotel Bethlehem
Fourth-grade students at the Historic Downtown Campus recently experienced the holiday magic of the historic Hotel Bethlehem during a personalized tour led by the creative mind behind its seasonal display. Upon arrival, the group was welcomed by hotel owner Bruce Haines, who emphasized the landmark’s deep historical significance to the city.
After this introduction, Anthony Sierra, the hotel’s decorator and interior designer, along with his design partner, Ty Cundey, guided the students through the festive setting. Sierra offered a behind-the-scenes look at the transformation, describing his detailed design process and the narrative woven into this year’s Christmas theme. He also shared insights into his professional life, discussing both the realities and the joys of working as an interior designer.
Field trips like this provide invaluable real-world context, helping students connect local history with artistic expression while offering early inspiration for potential creative careers in design and hospitality.
