The Arts

A SYMPHONY OF CREATIVITY AND EXPRESSION
At the Merle-Smith Campus, artistic expression is central to who we are. Through more than 20 specialized courses spanning studio art, theater, and music, Upper School students have the freedom to customize their creative path and explore new passions. Guided by expert faculty and energized by a culture of curiosity, our student artists build confidence, hone their skills to an advanced level, and discover their unique creative voice.
Dynamic Performing Arts Scene
The performing arts take center stage at Moravian Academy, giving students opportunities to showcase their talents, creativity, and collaboration. Our three-show season begins with Coffeehouse, a grand-scale Upper School tradition, followed by winter and spring productions spanning diverse musicals and classic literature, from Shakespeare to Stoppard.
A long tradition of Freddy Award recognition reflects the excellence of our student artists, most recently with seven nominations and two awards for The Drowsy Chaperone in 2025 and three nominations for Me and My Girl in 2026.
Harmonious Musical Traditions
Music has always been integral to Moravian history and culture, and that tradition resonates strongly in our music program. Students can choose from various formal and informal musical opportunities, including three vocal ensembles, four instrumental ensembles, and three handbell choirs.
Whether performing at the Coffeehouse variety show, the Vespers service, or the Spring Choral and Instrumental Concerts, our musicians leave an indelible mark.
