At Moravian Academy's Swain Campus, the 8th Grade Inspiration Speech is the culmination of our signature public speaking program. This project exemplifies our commitment to nurturing effective communicators and marks the significant transition from Middle School to High School.
Public speaking is a hallmark of the Swain Campus experience. Under the guidance of their humanities teacher students craft their speeches, and with the support of their drama teacher, they refine their delivery to ensure they present with energy and confidence. This year, 8th graders crafted unique speeches on at least two of the following topics:
A person or people they are inspired by and why
What they believe in or a topic they are passionate about
Their most valuable lessons learned at the Swain Campus
What they want to take action on or pursue in the future
The Inspiration Speech project is more than an assignment; it celebrates our students' voices and their journey through Moravian Academy. When they present their speeches, they demonstrate the power of effective communication—expressing their thoughts with clarity and confidence, and inspiring their peers and teachers alike.
Through this experience, 8th graders at the Swain Campus embody Moravian Academy's mission to nurture joyful learners who can communicate effectively. The 8th Grade Inspiration Speech is a proud example of our mission in action, highlighting our students' readiness to explore the wider world and themselves.
