Empowering Student Voices: MSBG Builds Confidence, Leadership, and Independence
Katherine Anthony '29
MSBG is a student-led elective with the help of Mr. Berger and Mr. Walp enabling students in the elective to gain independence, confidence, leadership, and public speaking skills throughout the year. This is my third year in MSBG, and I can proudly say the MSBG experience is unlike no other. It allows us to have freedom in what we write in the script, come up with topic ideas to share with the school, interview teachers, control the broadcasting, and learn how to use different tech items. I personally have grown as a leader throughout the experience, gaining confidence in my public speaking, making new friends, helping others learn how to do certain roles, and helping the group stay organized. The confidence and friendship-gaining aspect of MSBG is what keeps making me come back; the first time going on MSBG and speaking in front of the school can be scary, however through this process the knowledge and confidence gained is extraordinary and is so helpful to embracing the “real world” as a leader.
