The highlight of the week was listening to the ancient legend of Chang’e, the moon goddess. Students were captivated by the story of how she ascended to the moon, a tale that has been passed down for generations. They also engaged in hands-on activities, crafting their own mooncakes from playdough, bringing the festival’s iconic treat to life in a fun and creative way. This artistic activity helped the students connect with the festival’s spirit in a tactile manner.
To complete the celebration, students had the opportunity to taste real mooncakes filled with traditional flavors such as lotus seed paste and salted duck egg yolks. For many, it was their first time experiencing the unique taste of this beloved festival delicacy. Through these activities, our students gained not only knowledge of the Mid-Autumn Festival but also a deeper appreciation for Chinese culture, fostering a sense of global understanding and connection.
