Lisa Dubreuil & Kyle Shaughnessy, Co-Directors of College Counseling
Moravian Academy proudly announces its recognition as a Platinum-level school on the 2024 Advanced Placement (AP) School Honor Roll, awarded by the College Board. This distinction is a testament to our commitment to fostering a culture of academic excellence while broadening access to advanced learning opportunities for all students.

Recognizing Student Achievement

Our recognition as a Platinum-level school is a testament to the hard work and determination of our students and educators. We are proud to report:
  • 97% of our seniors took at least one AP Exam during their high school years.
  • 81% achieved a score of 3 or higher on at least one exam.
  • 24% of our seniors engaged with five or more AP Exams, demonstrating their commitment to academic excellence and readiness for the challenges of higher education.
Moravian Academy offers 17 AP courses, thoughtfully taught across 27 sections by our dedicated team of 17 skilled AP teachers. This extensive array of courses ensures that every student has the opportunity to engage deeply with rigorous material, fostering critical thinking and analytical skills essential for their future success.

Commitment to Expanding Access

The AP School Honor Roll celebrates schools that achieve outstanding results while actively expanding access to their AP programs. Each year, schools are evaluated based on their dedication to creating a college-going culture and maximizing college readiness for every student.
As Trevor Packer, head of the AP program, notes, “AP gives students the opportunity to engage with college-level work, earn college credit and placement, and potentially boost their grade point averages. The schools that have earned this distinction are proof that it is possible to expand access to these college-level courses and still drive strong performance – they represent the best of AP.”

The Importance of Advanced Placement at Moravian Academy

Our commitment to academic rigor and holistic education aligns seamlessly with the core values of Community, Curiosity, Integrity, and Excellence that define Moravian Academy. The AP program at our school not only allows students to dive into advanced coursework but also fosters essential skills such as critical thinking, effective communication, and ethical leadership—qualities we nurture in our students to help them thrive in a global society.
Through AP courses, our students are engaged in rich, thought-provoking discussions that broaden their perspectives and deepen their understanding of the world. By graduation, they are well-prepared to navigate the complexities of college and beyond, embodying Moravian Academy’s mission to nurture the joyful spirit of each learner.

Looking Ahead Together

As we celebrate this incredible achievement, we remain steadfast in our commitment to providing meaningful educational experiences for all our students. The success of our AP program reflects our collective dedication to supporting each learner on their unique journey of exploration and growth. Together, we cultivate an environment where students continuously ask, “Who am I, and who can I become?”
