Exploring Apples: A Journey of Curiosity in Preschool

Stacey Raudabaugh
Recently, preschoolers on the Swain Campus engaged in a hands-on experience centered around apples, embracing their curiosity and joyful spirit of learning. Their exploration began with a classic science experiment: Do apples sink or float? With wide eyes and eager hands, students made predictions and were thrilled to see the result.

As they examined the apples’ shiny skins and discovered the little seeds inside, the children shared their findings with excitement. An interactive story allowed them to help a boy find the star hidden within the apple, sparking their imaginations and boosting their vocabulary with playful giggles.

The fun continued with an apple taste test, where students sampled a rainbow of apple varieties and enthusiastically graphed their favorites. They practiced fine motor skills by using tongs to transfer and sort apples by color, all while delighting in the challenge.

This exploration is vital for younger students, nurturing their curiosity and laying the groundwork for critical thinking and problem-solving skills that will benefit them in future learning.
